Throwback Thursday: Historical Romance Edition #14

Thank you to Shabby Blogs (http://shabbyblogs.com/) for the free frame!

Happy Thursday, everyone! And welcome to a new feature on Buried Under Romance and Love Saves the World.

What is Throwback Thursday?
Traditionally, Throwback Thursday celebrates nostalgia, asking participants to post a personal photo or an image from their past -- usually from 5 to 10 years ago. There are a lot of book blogs that also do a book-related Throwback Thursday.

The Historical Romance Edition:
Since Mary of Buried Under Romance and I are unapologetic lovers of historical romances, we've decided to focus on our beloved genre.

Here are our rules:
1. It must be posted on a Thursday.
2. It must be a historical romance novel published before October 3, 2008.

What a marvelous coincidence! The 14th TBT: HR Edition happens in the first week of 2014! Yay!

Lord of Scoundrels by Loretta Chase, published November 2007

Blurb:

Tough minded Jessica Trent's sole intention is to free her nitwit brother from the destructive influence of Sebastian Ballister, the notorious Marquess of Diain. She never expects to desire the arrogant, amoral cad. And When Daine's reciprocal passion places them in a scandalously compromising, and public, position, Jessica is left with no choice but to seek satisfaction ... Damn the minx for tempting him, kissing him ... and then for forcing him to salvage reputation! Lord Dain can't wait to put the infuriating bluestocking in her place -- and in some amorous position. And if this means marriage, so be it -- though Sebastian is less than certain he can continue to remain aloof ... and steal his heart to the sensuous, head strong lady's considerable charms.

I have only just discovered Loretta Chase with her Dressmaker series and I'm wondering why I haven't discovered her sooner. This is a book I'm definitely reading this 2014. Lord of Scoundrels has been voted number 1 in the annual AAR Top 100 Romance Poll. It was also number 1 the previous year and the year before that.

So, yes, I've purchased this book and have resolved to read it this year.

  4. This is such an amazing book! I was so sure that it couldn't meet all the hype, but, to my happy surprise, it did. Jessica is one of my favorite historical heroines ever. If you want another Chase recommendation, I suggest Mr. Impossible which set in Victorian-era Egypt. Great choice!
