Happy Thursday, everyone! And welcome to a new feature on Buried Under Romance and Love Saves the World.
What is Throwback Thursday?
Traditionally, Throwback Thursday celebrates nostalgia, asking participants to post a personal photo or an image from their past -- usually from 5 to 10 years ago. There are a lot of book blogs that also do a book-related Throwback Thursday.
The Historical Romance Edition:
Since Mary of Buried Under Romance and I are unapologetic lovers of historical romances, we've decided to focus on our beloved genre.
Here are our rules:
1. It must be posted on a Thursday.
2. It must be a historical romance novel published before October 3, 2008.
Here's my pick for the week:
Promise Me Forever, published March 2006
Blurb:
On the outside, Lauren Fairfield appears the very picture of cool, contained nobility and blueblood British sophistication. Inside, however, she longs for Tom, the charming rogue she loved—and lost.
Now a sinfully handsome would-be gentleman has arrived in London -- and Lauren nearly swoons when she realizes it is her Tom, grown to magnificent manhood. He has come to claim his lost title as Earl of Sachse ... and to fulfill an oath once made by two young lovers beneath a long-ago moon, a scandalous promise no proper lady would dare honor.
Lauren could never love a staid and stifling lord, and Tom's future is the aristocracy. So she will teach him their ways before she exits his life forever. But the wildness she adored still lives in Tom's heart -- and he will not rest until he proves to the proud, resisting beauty that "forever" is a promise that must be kept ...
I only started reading Lorraine Heath just shortly before I started my blog in 2011 (and partly the reason why I decided to started blogging). I loved Waking Up with the Duke and I decided to look at Heath's backlist and tried to read through everything I could find ... which meant running out of space in my book journal. Promise Me Forever is my book buddy, F's favourite Heath and she recommended it to me. I love reading about second chances/love is sweeter the second time around because I'd like to think that the couple has already learned from their mistakes and will try to make things work. It is also a given that the couple is much older, and with age, hopefully, comes a bit of wisdom. If there's resentment from the previous parting then, it's also interesting to see how they will sort it out. (Always love the big dramatic moment where old sins are brought up and everyone tries to make amends.) ^_^

ReplyDeleteI haven't read Lorraine Heath's books yet, but I love the sound of this one. And you've definitely hit the nail on the head about why second chance romances are awesome :)
ReplyDeleteI saw! And you know what's more fun? That was my first choice to feature but I decided to go with this one. ^_^
ReplyDeleteOh Lorraine Heath, I have enjoyed every one of her books. Great pick.
